c r i m e t h i n c. c o r p s d i p l o m a t i q u e invites you to join us for e n c u e n t r o s p r i m e r o s=20 f i r s t e n c o u n t e r s calling you, diplomat: liaison, attache, interpreter; courier, herald, go-between; shaman, witch, prophet; artist, writer, propagandist; organic intellectual, magical activist, itinerant ambassador amid the revolution.=20 you are an agent of transformation linking communities of struggle with your life, your relations, your words. rooted in one or many or none of the world's ways of radical being, you look and move beyond specific ideology, particular practice, local tradition, seeking not universal truth but other wisdoms for working together, seeking change by changing nimbly. you embrace difference, growing collective momentum not in unity but in articulation: local organic liaisons communicating experience and intention and desire across geography, ideology, identity. we wish to speak with you, to hear your tales and visions. we wish to meet with you, to weave webs of collective power. we wish to scheme with you, new strategies for catalyzing freedom in this time of galloping danger! we propose rendez-vous: this year's annual rainbow gathering somewhere between california and utah, the weekend before july 4 (june 27, 28, 29). after we confront the wto oligarchy's bad old world in sacramento, we regroup for a taste of the new world in which many worlds fit. why the rainbow gathering? for over thirty years tens of thousands gather annually without permit on public land, living together for weeks within a currencyless, decentralized gift economy. rainbow gathering is the most elaborate utopian political economic experiment in the country. like most american utopias, it is rooted not in ideology, nor in charismatic leadership, but in the psychic transformation wrought by immersion in a radically different collectivity. yet this collectivity is deeply and impressively polyglot, arising through and between hundreds of radically divergent communities which otherwise have little to do with each other. we know of no better example of what we mean by collective momentum arising out of diversity. how does it happen? what can we learn? secondly, rainbow gatherings are the most class-diverse large convergences in the country because they're free to get to, free to enter, with delightful free food, entertainment, education, and love everywhere. many of us are poor. and finally, we seek comrades open to unfamiliar environments and unexpected challenges. rainbow gatherings face rapidly increasing state repression. last year, the gathering was forcibly evicted from half its land, and water was nearly cut off. rainbow is miraculous, and a convergence between collective resilience and the anti-federal libertarian sentiments of the local populace forced the feds to back off. but in this time of war and reaction, only our reinforced commitment to other worlds will make real their possibility. let us make of our lives collective prayers for just peace and humble solidarity. join us! check www.welcomehome.org for directions in early-mid june. go to info at the heart of the gathering to find us.
